Lesson Plans

The art class should be energizing and engaging! That starts with me and the lessons that I will teach to the students. I plan to foster creativity by offering opportunities to experiment new processes, tools and materials. I will also offer opportunities to build community, explore identity and use art as a tool for communication.

Students explore social justice through animal rights activism. Students will be introduced to an experimental silkscreen printing technique which involves painting with watercolor paints directly on the screen.

Students are introduced to the mandala and its deep cultural roots. Through this lesson, students explore organic and geometric shapes and create intricate patterns and color plans. Students will also discover the meditative properties of creating a mandala

Students are introduced to the concept of "drawing with scissors," and develop the skills to maneuver scissors as they cut organic shapes out without following a drawn line. Students learn to take inspiration from the natural world that surrounds them as they develop a composition that focuses on organic shapes.
