ASSESSMENT

Pre-Test to assess prior student learning regarding planning and creating a composition, and understanding of color mixing with watercolor paints.

Exit ticket strategy on used to assess students' ability to plan and sequence independently.

Quick write strategies will be used to assess students' thought processes regarding the connection between art-making and real-world issues.

Unit reflection and self-assessment will be used to assess students' thought processes, use of vocabulary, and comprehension of learning concepts for the unit.

ACTIVITY

Students will observe and discuss master artworks from a variety of artists, including screen printers and environmental artists.

Students will independently research endangered species and select an animal to be the focal point of their project.

Students will draft and plan a composition regarding their selected endangered animal.

Students will engage in an experimental artmaking process, which combines watercolor painting and silkscreen printmaking.
